Just wondering if any of the AWE FIR filters use the SHARC FIR accelerator or a combination of DSP and FIR accelerator to increase the effective number of taps ?
Our FIR filters do not currently use the SHARC FIR hardware accelerators. The FIRs do have a fully optimized software implementation for SHARC targets.
I saw this question about the AW utilizing SHARC FIR accelerators . Are their developments on whether newer BSPs either the 214xx or 215xx now use the accelerators?
Yes existing FIR (same coeffs on each channel) and FIRNChan (unique coeffs per channel) modules are using FIR hardware accelerators on ADSP-21569, ADSP-SC58x and latest ADSP-SC594 processors.
Additionally, these modules are implemented such that some channels are processed in accelerators in parallel with core processing on remaining channels (i.e. work load distribution is handled within the module based on the number of channels).
