Just got a brand new laptop (lots of CPU power, lots of memory).
I installed the latest version of Audio Weaver designer. I'm very familiar with this program.
I did a small pass through design (just wired the two inputs to the two outputs, using the standard parameters (48KHz sample rate, block sample of 32).
I chose the test audio file (the Bach playback 48KHz that came with the installation). When I ran the design, the playback sound distorted with a lot of clicks. I tried to increase the block size, but the same distorted output.
There can't be a simpler design... can anyone help to resolve this?

First verify that you can play audio without issue using applications other than Audio Weaver apps.
Next, open AWE_Server and Select File/Preferences and see if you have selected the expected audio devices.
Finally, open Control Panel\Sounds and verify the default sound settings of you sound card.
AWE_Server uses the Windows audio system and sound card drivers for audio devices so the most likely
issue is something in this setup.

I can play the same file using the standard Windows music player. Plays without any issues.
I have only one output device (speakers, using Realtek driver). It is selected correctly by the AWE_Server.
In the control panel I see the speakers/drivers are set for 48KHz sample rate (but 16-bit resolution). Can't change that, but I do not know if that changes anything?

Hi Yair, did you manage to solve this? I have very same problem with my system (just installed AWE and my laptop is new - playing that audio perfectly elsewhere).

I could not resolve it with the laptop itself. However, I connected to it a USB DAC/Heaphone Amplifer I have, and used this device as the audio output device. With this device, there were no audio issues.
It looks to me there is something wrong with the way AW deals with specific audio hardware and drivers (as I could playback music fine on this laptop without any problem). I believe it is worth checking by DSP Concepts.
Anyway, I'm using the laptop with the USB DAC now...

Hello Mike/Yair,
Unfortunately it's not so black and white. Audio Weaver attempts to do 10mSec DirectX read/write by frames. If there is a problem with your laptops motherboard hardware or sound device driver, that could be breaking this attempt and causing the issue. Most music players (including WMP) handle data in much larger blocks, sometimes a hundred to several hundred milliseconds, so it's hard to draw conclusions from programs that stray so much further away from RT audio. The external USB audio device working properly also doesn't give us much insight because we have found that compliant USB audio class devices have always worked fine.
The next troubleshooting steps would be to check the make and model of the device, the revisions of drivers, etc...and see if there are any reports of people experiencing similar audio issues or if there are any driver updates available.
Thanks,
Kevin
