hello
I have a little strange problem
I installed the program, programmed stm32 and connected to discoveryboard.
I chose in the settings of the music card awe audio class, turned on the music and I have silence on the output jack even though the signal is in the system on the awe audio class as you can see on screen below.
What could be the problem ?

Hi Mark,
A few questions to help figure out what's going on:
1. Are the input and output meters in your running layout showing any signal while your playing music?
2. The CPU load displayed in your server window shows '-.-%', which indicates that nothing is running on your target. When you flashed the 407 board with the binary, did you do a full erase and a board reset after the load?
3. Are you using 6.17.B01 STMicro edition of Designer, and the .bin file included in the v1.2 BSP for the STM32F407 board?
Thanks.
Axel

1. yes
2. yes and i do all procedure again and is this same but cpu are working
3. yes
all looking good, but still no sound on jack (yes my speakers are ok)

Hey Mark,
This is interesting. Getting a reading from the meter at the output of your layout and seeing a 5.36% CPU usage indicate that the input audio is being correctly received and processed by Audio Weaver. This points to something downstream of the audio processing being the problem.
Have you tried plugging in headphones or different speakers to the output jack on the 407 board? Or perhaps the jack is broken on your board - do you have another stm32f407 to test on?

Hi. My board STM32F407 discovery is also no sound. Situation looks same as above. I have one question,
"Just after saving "STM32F407_Discovery.bin" (<-- C:\DSP Concepts\AWE BSP stm32f407 v1.2\bin) file, the board can start to work as USB-Speaker ?" (if there is USB-audio-in to CN5 connector, we can listen a music from HP jack connector without Audio weaver ?)
I would like to verify the cause, board side problem ? or Audio weaver configuration ?

Hello ykawano,
With the STM32F407_Discovery.bin flashed, the board will only output sound if a layout in Audio Weaver Designer is running. So the answer to the question is no, the board won't start working as a USB-speaker without Audio Weaver running.

Hi Axel. thank you for your confirmation. I have checked it and finally I could listen a sound. What did I do: Just after changing a volume of Windows7 speaker, a sound from the jack (STM32F407-Discovery) became ON. Default volume was max level (100%). it looks "changing" itself is effective. (even if I set back to 100%, it7s still OK). I don't know the reason but it's cleared. As an another topic, in during test, output audio sometime become "periodical noise" ("zizi.... zizi...." sound like this). I don't clarify the condition (what is the trigger?). This is not solved yet.

Hi,
Thanks for your description of your fix. We'll look into what could be causing the output audio to be silent when the volume starts at 100%.
As for the periodical noise, the beeping that you hear after 10 minutes is the demo ASRC included in the BSP timing out. The ASRC is used to keep the USB audio stream synced with the ST MCU, and the free version of the ST BSPs only includes a time-limited demo version of this library.
Thanks again for letting us know how you fixed your problem.

hi again
Today i'm back to work on my board and check ykawano solution in the mid time.
In the end, nothing change, still no sound but on headphones a hear a little "standard" noise, what could it mean the output is working. Tomorrow i take oscilloscope and try to check in/out arround the DAC.

Hello!
I was having the same "no output" issue after upgrading to the latest version, but the work around suggested above by Ykawano solved it.
Thank you, Ykawano!
Thanks also to Axel for clarifying about the annoying beeping - I was wondering about that, but never asked...
I have to time it to confirm, but I do not think I get 10 minutes of use before sound cuts off and the beeping starts.
Cheers!

i have new problem .
i can not change my layout setting while i connected the stm32f407 board...
and output and input does not show any signal.....
9:26am
Hi shubham,
What layout setting are you trying to change while connected to the ST device?
Have you tried the other solutions outlined in this thread for the no input/output issue? For example, make sure that your volume is not set to 100%.

sorry i am new in this field.
but when i connected stm32f407 and flash awb file this message show in display....

It's not clear what you are doing or what you expect to be happening - please provide more details.
Have you tried running a layout from Designer? To do this, connect the AWE_Server to your ST device, then create a layout in Designer and press the Run button in the top menu.

ya i try in designer also... in designer no sound has come out..
